Greenvolt Group, through its subsidiary Greenvolt Power, has signed a €35 million project finance agreement with Ringkjøbing Landbobank to fund the construction and operation of a large-scale hybrid renewable energy project in Høegholm, eastern Denmark.

The country is currently enjoying growth in the development of renewable energy projects and only recently celebrated the commissioning of the world’s largest rooftop solar power plant located in Horsens.

Solar and Battery Integration

The project combines 97.36 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 55–60 MW / 110–120 MWh, designed to enhance grid flexibility and optimize renewable energy use. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate around 97 GWh of clean electricity annually.

Construction and Commissioning

The hybrid project is currently under construction and is scheduled to reach its Commercial Operations Date (COD) in the first quarter of 2026.

Executive Insights

“Hybrid projects like this one, which combine solar and battery storage, make renewable generation more efficient and strengthen our asset portfolio,” said João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group. “They also reinforce investor confidence, particularly from institutional financing partners.”

Jørn Nielsen, Managing Director of Ringkjøbing Landbobank A/S, added: “Financing sustainable and responsible projects aligns with our strategy. We’re proud to support Greenvolt in delivering a project that contributes both regionally and to Denmark’s national energy transition goals.”

Adrian Góralski, M&A and Project Finance Director at Greenvolt Power, emphasized the collaborative nature of the agreement: “This partnership enables the development of a project that is significant not only for Greenvolt, but also for the broader energy transition in Denmark and Europe.”

Expanding Global Portfolio

Part of KKR’s investment portfolio, Greenvolt Group manages a 14.1 GW utility-scale pipeline spanning Europe, the United States, and Asia, encompassing solar, wind, and BESS projects. The company is among Europe’s leading BESS developers, with a pipeline exceeding 4.7 GW, and also operates in sustainable biomass and distributed generation sectors.
